The Energy Systems Laboratory was part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Pittsburgh from 2000-2015. It is now located at Rice University in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The purpose of the Energy Systems Lab is to investigate the multi-scale thermal-fluid behavior encountered during the conversion and use of energy.

The lab at Rice University focuses mainly on the computational modeling of energy systems and conversion processes. Some experimental work is done at Rice University. Other computational and experimental resources and laboratory facilities are located in 211 Benedum Hall.
